Murdoch Mysteries Filming in Rockwood

Listen to this article

Filming is scheduled to occur at the Rockwood Conservation Area over the course of several days, according to a notification. The picturesque location in Rockwood has been chosen as a backdrop for a popular CBC detective show, Murdoch Mysteries, produced by Shaftesbury Murdoch XVI Inc. The production company has requested an exemption from the noise bylaw to film exterior scenes at the conservation area in late July.

The notification specifies that filming will take place on July 20, 21, 22, and 24, including some night shoots that may extend until 2 am. Prior to the filming dates, preparations will be conducted from July 17 to 19. As part of the production, two controlled fires will be utilized in fire pits within the area.

To accommodate the production, vehicles and film equipment will be stationed at three locations: private property, Rockwood Centennial Public School, and Valley Road.

It is worth noting that Murdoch Mysteries has previously filmed in nearby locations such as Cambridge and Guelph. The show revolves around a late-19th century detective based in Toronto and is set to premiere its 17th season in the fall. The noise bylaw exemption will be considered by the Guelph/Eramosa council during a meeting scheduled for Monday.
