Nightmare Tenant Arrested AGAIN, This Time for Extra $10,000 in Damages

A Guelph man arrested last week for causing more than $30,000 in damage to his rental unit has been arrested again.

On June 4 police were called to an address near Woolwich Street and Norfolk Street. A contractor had attended the apartment unit and called the owner after observing significant damage throughout.

Officers were invited inside and noted many holes in walls, spray paint on almost every wall, cupboards smashed to pieces and appliances damaged and rendered inoperable. A 24-year-old Guelph man was arrested for mischief over $5,000 and released with an upcoming court date.

On Tuesday morning police were called back to the same apartment. Water had been left running in the kitchen and bathroom, causing a leak which caused significant damage to the shared laundry room below the male’s unit. The new damage is estimated to be in excess of $10,000.

The 24-year-old was arrested again for a second count of mischief over $5,000 and breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
