A Guelph man faces driving and weapons charges after police spotted a speeding motorcycle Tuesday afternoon.
Approximately 12:35 p.m. officers observed a blue motorcycle being driven dangerously on Speedvale Avenue East, travelling at a very high speed and passing other traffic. The motorcycle was followed by unmarked police vehicles until it pulled into an east-end townhouse complex, where the driver was placed under arrest.
A search incident to arrest revealed a spring-assisted knife in his waistband and a baggie with a small amount of suspected cocaine. The man was also found to be a prohibited driver.
A 32-year-old Guelph man is charged with dangerous driving, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing a controlled substance, seven counts of driving while prohibited and two counts of breaching a probation order. He will appear in court October 21.
