Police Find Copper Stash in Vacant Home

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after someone broke into a vacant home downtown and left copper behind.

Tuesday morning, police were called to a residence near Wyndham Street South and Fountain Street. The property manager had arrived to find the front window had been covered from inside and an interior chain lock was latched.

Officers gained entry to the home and found the basement door secured with a deadbolt which had not been installed by the property manager. Officers breached the door and located a quantity of copper piping and copper wire inside.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Brett Woodburn at 519-824-1212, ext. 7585, email him at bwoodburn@guelphpolice.ca, leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
