Police Investigating Man Recording Girls at Splash Pad

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a man was observed recording young girls at a west-end splash pad Wednesday.

Just after 3:30 p.m. police were called to the area of Dawson Road and Shelldale Crescent. A woman reported she walked past the splash pad and saw a man sitting on a rock nearby. A couple of minutes later she was walking past again and stopped to speak to two girls approximately 13 or 14.

While speaking to the girls, the woman noticed the man appeared to be filming them with a small red digital camera.

The witness confronted the man, who said he was filming the splash pad but not the girls. He left the area on foot.

He was described as a white male in his mid-30s, six feet tall with short black hair. He was wearing a mostly-white tie-died spotted tee-shirt, grey and black ball cap with the word Lubricants on it and a dark-coloured backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Matt Oliver at 519-824-1212, ext. 7262, email him at moliver@guelphpolice.ca, leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
