Replica Gun Pointed in Crowded Downtown Bar

A Guelph man faces several weapons charges after pointing a replica firearm inside a crowded bar.

Just after midnight Friday morning, police were dispatched to a weapons call at a bar downtown. Investigation revealed a male had been ejected from the bar after becoming involved in an altercation inside.

While the male was being removed, another patron commented that he had a firearm and had pointed it at them. A security guard quickly disarmed and restrained the male until police arrived. A BB gun and ammunition were recovered.

A 20-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and careless use of a firearm. He will appear in court January 12.
