Safe Torn from Drive-through ATM and Stolen

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a safe was torn out of a drive-through ATM and stolen.

Just before 5 a.m. Saturday, police were called to a bank near Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road. A security guard had attended an alarm call and discovered the front panel of the ATM was open. Investigation revealed the safe containing an unknown quantity of cash had been forcefully removed from its cement enclosure. Officers also noted a security camera facing the ATM had been obscured with black spray paint.

Surveillance video from another nearby business showed a person on foot approaching the ATM approximately 3 a.m. and a short time later sparks are seen in the area. A light-coloured SUV was then seen picking the person up.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Adam Roszell at 519-824-1212, ext. 7117, email him at aroszell@guelphpolice.ca, leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
