A second male has been arrested in connection with a gunpoint robbery in Guelph earlier this year.
The evening of May 14, two males were walking near Edinburgh Road North and Willow Road when they were approached by two other males. The suspects brandished a handgun and knife and robbed the victims of cash, jewelry and clothing.
The investigation led to the arrest of a 31-year-old male on May 31. He remains in custody.
Earlier this month, information was received by members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft (BEAT) Unit that the second involved male was living at an address outside the city. On Wednesday he was arrested without incident in Waterloo Region.
During a search of his residence officers recovered a semi-automatic assault rifle and a realistic-looking replica firearm.
A 30-year-old Kitchener male is charged with robbery, unauthorized possession of a weapon and three counts of possessing a weapon contrary to a court order. He will appear in a Guelph bail court August 1, 2023.
