Section of Hanlon to be Closed This Week

If you’re planning to travel on the Hanlon Expressway to reach the 401 this week, it’s important to consider an alternative route depending on the specific day and time.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has recently announced a complete closure of the Hanlon Expressway between Wellington Road 34 and Maltby Road. This closure will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The purpose of the closure is to facilitate the launching of girders for an ongoing project.

Additionally, during the daytime, there will be regular lane closures on the Hanlon Expressway between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The Hanlon project consists of multiple phases, one of which involves closing the intersection at Maltby Road. Traffic will be redirected to a new interchange located just south of the current intersection.

Furthermore, the signaled intersection at Wellington Road 34 will be replaced with an overpass, requiring northbound commuters to utilize the interchange.

The entire project is expected to be completed by late 2025.
