Update:

The Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit is investigating after a male sustained life-threatening head injuries while riding an electric scooter Wednesday night.

Approximately 9:15pm Wednesday, emergency services were called to Victoria Road South near Macalister Boulevard after receiving reports of an unresponsive male at the roadside with head trauma.

A 52-year-old Guelph male was transported from the scene to a Hamilton trauma centre with life-threatening head injuries. He remains in critical condition. The sequence of events that led to the male’s injuries has not been determined, however he was located next to an electric kick scooter.

Police would like to hear from any member of the public who may have seen a male operating an electric kick scooter on Victoria Road South between Arkell Road and Stone Road East shortly after 9 p.m. Police are also seeking members of the public who may have any dashcam video in the area at the time, whether the subject male was observed or not.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Todd Weinstein of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit at toddweinstein@guelphpolice.ca or to call 519-824-1212 ext. 7514.
