Sobriety Check Leads to Criminal Driving Charge

On June 15th, 2023, just prior to 12:09pm, police observed an adult male leave a store located near the intersection of Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North in the City of Guelph, and immediately enter the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle while carrying alcohol.

A traffic stop was initiated to check the sobriety of the male.

Further investigation revealed that the male was prohibited from driving based off a previous criminal code impaired driving conviction. He was subsequently arrested.

A 68-year-old Guelph male has been charged with Operate While Prohibited.

His vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

He will appear in court on July 28th.
