A Scarborough male faces several charges after a stolen Maserati was involved in a collision in Guelph Friday afternoon.
Approximately 12:05 p.m. police were called to a collision on Downey Road and found two vehicles heavily damaged, including a Maserati SUV which had been reported stolen from Toronto.
The driver of the Maserati had fled on foot but was followed and detained by a witness. He was showing signs of impairment and was transported to the police station, where further analysis determined he was impaired by a drug.
Two occupants of the second vehicle were transported to hospital for treatment.
Further investigation revealed the accused was bound by court orders placing him under house arrest and banning him from driving.
An 18-year-old Scarborough male is charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, possessing stolen property over $5,000, failing to stop at a collision and two counts of failing to comply with release orders. He was held for a bail hearing Monday.
