Stolen Truck in Earlier Incident Recovered Burned

A pickup which was used to push another vehicle out of the way before being stolen late last year has been recovered after being set on fire.

Just before 5 a.m. December 29, officers were dispatched for a collision on Victoria Road North near Hadati Road after a passerby reported a damaged vehicle unoccupied in the middle of the road.

Investigation revealed a white 2004 GMC Sierra had been stolen from the driveway. The suspect reversed it into a red sedan parked behind it, pushing the sedan out of the driveway and allowing the thief to flee. The pickup was last seen southbound on Victoria Road with damage to the rear end.

On Wednesday, the Guelph Police Service was informed the truck had been recovered in Brant County after sustaining severe front-end damage and being set on fire.

The theft remains under investigation.
