Stolen Van Purchased Online Seized for Forensic

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a local male bought a van online then realized it was stolen.

The victim reported he had been negotiating via a popular buy and sell website to buy parts for a 2021 GMC van, ultimately agreeing to purchase the vehicle outright for $5,000 cash. He picked the van up from the Toronto area and towed it back to Guelph before realizing it may be stolen.

He contacted Guelph Police who confirmed the van was reported stolen in May of this year. It was seized for forensic analysis.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Dylan Costello at 519-824-1212, ext. 7396, email him at dcostello@guelphpolice.ca, leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
