Students Unite for Special Olympics Basketball

On December 12, 2023, 28 teams from seven Upper Grand District School Board schools gathered at Centre Wellington District High School for the 2023 Special Olympics Guelph Basketball Qualifier.

With over 140 athletes from Centre Wellington DHS, Centre Dufferin DHS, Guelph CVI, John F. Ross CVI, Norwell DHS, Orangeville DSS and Wellington Heights SS, playing on five playing courts, the gym at CWDHS was a buzz with excitement all day. Teams included UG Special Olympic Athletes and their Unified Partners.

Teams will learn in the coming weeks if they qualified for the provincial Special Olympics Basketball tournament.
