Stunt & Impaired Charges 107 km/h in 50 km/h

A Guelph female faces stunt driving and impaired driving charges following a traffic stop early Saturday.

Just after 12:30 a.m. a Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit officer was patrolling on Gordon Street near Clairfields Drive West when he clocked a Toyota SUV travelling 107 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

The vehicle was stopped and the female driver observed to have slightly slurred speech. The female was asked to step from the vehicle and was unsteady on her feet. She refused several times to provide a breath sample after the consequences of refusing were explained.

A 48-year-old Guelph female is charged with impaired operation, refusing to comply with a breath demand, speeding and stunt driving. Her vehicle was impounded for 14 days and her licence was suspended for 90 days. She will appear in a Guelph court June 23, 2023.
