Suspect Arrested After Downtown Smash & Grab

A Guelph male faces several charges after a break-in Monday at a downtown business.

Just before 7 a.m. a witness saw a male smash the front door of a business on Woolwich St and enter the store. As the male exited the store he dropped electronics including a laptop, iPad and several cellphones. These were left outside in the rain and severely damaged.

A male was located downtown later in the morning and arrested. Cash which had been stolen from the business was recovered following his arrest.

A 34-year-old Guelph male is charged with break and enter, mischief over $5,000, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and breaching probation. He will appear in a Guelph court July 28, 2023.
