A Guelph teen faces charges after a knife was brandished during an argument downtown Friday night.
Just before 10 p.m. police were called to the area of Wyndham Street North and Macdonell Street. A male and female were yelling at each other across the street when the male began walking towards the victim while lifting his sweater to show a knife in his waistband and uttered a threat.
Police arrived a short time later and the male fled on foot but was caught and arrested. The knife was recovered.
A 17-year-old Guelph boy is charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He will appear in court in October.

I was in the vicinity, sitting at a patio with friends.
Any attempt of violence, or act to intimidate with a weapon should be dealt with swiftly and decisively. Thankfully, local police responded immediately and an arrest was made almost immediately.
