Teen Steals Senior’s Phone and Assaults Her

A Guelph teenager was arrested after a woman was assaulted Monday evening while attempting to retrieve a stolen phone.

The 59-year-old victim called police just before 6 p.m. She reported her phone was stolen in the area of Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road. She saw a youth holding a phone but when she approached to see if it was hers he pushed her to the ground.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was able to retrieve her phone. A 14-year-old Guelph male is charged with assault. He will appear in a Guelph court September 27, 2023.
