Trespassing & Drug Charges for Man Sleeping in Garage
A Guelph man faces drug charges after he was found sleeping in the garage of a vacant home.
Last Friday, just before 9 a.m., police were called to an address near Speedvale Avenue East and Metcalfe Street. A male and female were found sleeping in a detached garage next to some drug paraphernalia. After the two were asked to come outside, the male was observed removing several pieces of folded tinfoil from his pockets and placing them on a chair. The packages were later found to contain suspected fentanyl.
Officers recognized the male and knew him to be wanted for possessing stolen property and breaching a probation order. He was placed under arrest and a search revealed suspected crack cocaine, a scale, fresh sheets of tinfoil and a large amount of cash.
A 30-year-old Guelph man was further charged with possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and another count of breaching probation. He will appear in court February 9.
