
Two Charged with Impaired Driving

Two Guelph males were charged with impaired driving on the weekend, including a motorcyclist who was observed falling off his bike.
Saturday morning, approximately 12:40 p.m., a Guelph Police Service officer patrolling on Stone Road West clocked a Ram pickup at 81 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted and officers immediately detected a strong odour of alcoholic beverage.
The driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 46-year-old Guelph male is charged with impaired driving and speeding. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in a Guelph court June 16, 2023.
Sunday afternoon, just after 3 p.m., a witness reported a motorcyclist fall off his bike on Paisley Road near the Hanlon Expressway, then get back on and continue. Officers located and stopped the bike and noted an odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath.
The driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed he had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 28-year-old Guelph male is charged with impaired driving and driving while prohibited. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his motorcycle was impounded for seven days. He will also appear in a Guelph court June 16, 2023.
