A significant Rogers service outage affected parts of Guelph on Monday after an act of vandalism disrupted network infrastructure. Approximately 3,000 customers in the area of Paisley Road and the Hanlon Parkway were left without internet or home phone service.
Rogers issued a statement confirming that vandalism was the cause of the disruption, noting an industry-wide increase in similar incidents targeting network equipment. “These acts have a serious impact on public safety and disrupt the lives of those who rely on our network for work and school – we always work with local police when they occur,” the company stated.
The outage began earlier in the day and was projected to continue into the evening. Rogers estimated that service would be restored by 8 p.m.
