The Guelph Police Service is investigating the theft of one vehicle and the recovery of another on the weekend.

Approximately 9:40 a.m. Sunday, a resident of the east end reported his grey 2015 Chevrolet Equinox stolen from outside his home sometime overnight. The complainant advised he parked on the street at 5 p.m. Saturday and came out in the morning to discover the vehicle gone.

Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Richard Towlson at 519-824-1212, ext. 7158, email rtowlson@guelphpolice.ca, leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.

Just before noon Sunday, an officer was patrolling the area of Willow Road and Dawson Road when the cruiser’s automated license plate reader alerted him to a stolen vehicle in a parking lot. Investigation revealed the silver Dodge Grand Caravan had been stolen in late October from Waterloo Region.

The Guelph Police Service encourages residents to take steps to protect themselves from auto theft. This can include parking indoors when possible or in well-lit areas, ensuring vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked, employing anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered and using devices to block signals from electronic keys. Please report suspicious activity around unattended vehicles, especially during overnight hours.
