Vehicle with Smashed Out Window Draws Attention; 3 Arrested Downtown

On July 5th, 2024, at 10:05pm, during proactive patrol, officers observed a motor vehicle parked on the side of the road in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. As they drove past, officers observed two adult females leaving the vehicle. The vehicle had caught officer attention due to the entire rear window being smashed and covered in plastic.

Police soon returned to the vehicle’s location and further investigation revealed that it was stolen.

An adult male was located in the vehicle, and at 10:11pm, he was arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed he was in possession of:

  • Two identity documents in the same name not issued to him
  • Two financial cards in different names not issued to him

While processing the male’s arrest, one of the initial females returned to the vehicle, and at 10:27pm, she was also arrested.

At this time, police observed the other initial female watching a short distance away. Police began approaching her and she fled on foot. Officers caught up with her after a short foot chase and found her hiding in a bush behind a residential building. She was subsequently arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed she was in possession of the keys to the vehicle.

A 34-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
-Possession Of Stolen Property Over $5,000
-Occupy Stolen Motor Vehicle
-Possession Of An Identity Document
-Possession Of Credit Card x2
-Fail To Comply With Undertaking x3
-Fail To Comply With Judicial Release

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing, and subsequently released. He will appear in court on July 16th.

A 23-year-old Guelph female has been charged with:

  • Possession Of Stolen Property Over $5,000
  • Occupy Stolen Motor Vehicle
  • Fail To Comply With Undertaking

She will appear in court on August 16th.

A 29-year-old Shelburne female has been charged with:

  • Possession Of Stolen Property Over $5,000
  • Occupy Stolen Motor Vehicle

She will appear in court on August 13th.
