Victim Tracks Airpods – Suspect in Mall

A male faces several charges after he was tracked by the owner of stolen Apple Airpods.

On Monday evening, Guelph Police Service officers were dispatched to Stone Road Mall where they found a male under arrest by mall security. The owner of Airpods stolen earlier in the day from a vehicle tracked them to the mall and confronted a male, who was then detained by security.

Investigation revealed debit and credit cards also stolen from the vehicle had been used at various businesses in the city.

A 32-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing stolen property under $5,000, unauthorized use of a credit card, breach of probation and failing to comply with an undertaking. He will appear in a Guelph court July 25, 2023.
