Woman Robbed at Knifepoint Downtown Guelph

A Guelph man faces robbery and weapons charges after a woman had her backpack stolen at knifepoint early Sunday.

Approximately 1:40 a.m. an adult female was in a downtown parkade when she was confronted by a male known to her. He grabbed her backpack and when the victim tried to stop him the male pulled out a knife and held it to her neck. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.


The male was located a short time later and arrested. A 37-year-old Guelph man is charged with robbery, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court February 23.
