Guelph Man Arrested for Downtown Incidents

A Guelph man has been arrested after two people – one of them a teenager – reported being sexually assaulted downtown earlier this week.

Just after 6 p.m. Tuesday police were called to the area of Wyndham Street North and Macdonell Street. A 15-year-old boy reported he was in the downtown when he was approached by an older man he does not know and offered money for sex. The subject followed the teen, throwing cash at him and eventually touched him in a sexual manner inside a business.

A woman witnessed the interaction and intervened, allowing the teen to leave the area. The man then asked the bystander to attend his house for sex before twice sexually assaulting her outside a business. The second victim went inside the business and staff called police.

The suspect left before officers arrived, but was identified through investigation. On Thursday afternoon a 65-year-old Guelph man was arrested for sexual interference, two counts of sexual assault and obtaining sexual services for consideration. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
