A Guelph man faces an assault charge after an altercation which left another man lying in a large pool of blood on a downtown sidewalk early Friday.
Approximately 12:20 a.m. both men were outside a downtown bar and recognized each other from a previous verbal argument. The two became involved in a physical altercation, during which a 20-year-old man was knocked down, hitting his head on a large planter and then the sidewalk. He was unconscious for several minutes and had a large laceration on the back of his head.
The suspect left the area but was identified and located at his residence a short time later. A 42-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault causing bodily harm. He will appear in court June 13.
