Just after 11:30 p.m. officers observed a Mercedes leaving an address known to be associated with the drug trade. A short time later it entered another nearby parking lot and the driver remained in the car with the engine running. A few minutes later a woman was observed getting into the car.

Officers approached and could see suspected crack cocaine in the driver’s lap and that the woman had a banking application open on her phone. The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle revealed quantities of suspected fentanyl as well as scales contaminated with drug residue, drug packaging and more than $600 cash.

A 47-year-old Kitchener man is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and three counts of breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing Monday. (Occurrence number GU26040864)
