Guelph Transit Fare Increases for 2025

As of January 1st, 2025, fare changes were implemented for Guelph Transit users.

Adult transit fares for individuals using an OnYourWay card or the app increased by $0.05 to $2.85. Similarly, reduced fares rose by $0.05 to $2.30. Day passes also experienced an increase, now costing $8.55, up by $0.15. However, cash fares remain unchanged at $3.25.

Guelph Transit continues to provide the Affordable Bus Pass Program. As of February 1, all passes within Tier A and Tier B categories will be offered free of charge. Refunds for any remaining funds on these passes will be available until December 31, 2025.

In February, Guelph Transit will also introduce new pilot programs aimed at specific demographics. Seniors aged 65 and older can travel free of charge every Thursday. Additionally, teens aged 13 to 17 can ride for free on weekdays after 5 p.m. and throughout weekends and holidays.

These fare adjustments and initiatives are part of a broader strategy approved by Guelph City Council in 2023. According to Guelph Transit, fare increases are essential to offset operating costs and support the expansion and enhancement of transit services. Revenue generated from fare adjustments contributes to funding projects such as new shelters and digital bus stop displays, while also supporting reduced fares for eligible riders.
