The City of Guelph is alerting residents to a scam involving individuals impersonating City staff and claiming they need to inspect water meters inside homes. Officials emphasize that these individuals are not City employees, and residents should not allow them entry under any circumstance.
Reports have also surfaced about door-to-door salespeople falsely representing the City, offering water testing, filters, treatment systems, or heaters. The City has confirmed that its employees do not sell water-related products door-to-door and will never request to inspect residential water meters without prior notice.
